Plans & Pricing

As mentioned previously, the project management software is part of the marketing hub that Hubspot offers. There are three core pricing plans which are divided based on the features available and usage limits.

HubSpot pricing isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to most project management tools. Instead of per-seat pricing, it goes with pricing based on contacts. Keep that in mind when comparing it to other platforms.

Starter

This plan begins at $45/month when paid annually and supports up to 1,000 contacts. You get access to forms, email marketing, landing pages, task list creation, projects, and project templates.

Professional

The Professional plan starts at $800/month when you subscribe for annual billing and supports a minimum of 2,000 contacts. It builds on the Starter plan by including marketing automation, team management, a calendar, and deeper analytics.

Enterprise

The Enterprise plan requires a much larger investment of $3,200/month when on an annual plan and has a minimum of 10,000 contacts. All of the features are available such as revenue attribution, behavioral triggers for events, lead scoring, and much more.

Starter
$45/mo
Professional
$800/mo
Enterprise
$3,200/mo

Overview

Hubspot was founded in 2006 as a pioneer in the inbound marketing space. It has since grown into a publicly-traded company with a suite of tools to help small, medium, and large businesses manage marketing, sales, and even customer support. Its project management software, known as HubSpot Projects, is a part of the larger marketing suite and is a simple take on an essential tool.

Features and Functionality

HubSpot Projects is a simple project management tool that strips away all of the added features that may not be needed to get the job done. As part of the larger marketing suite, customers get a lot more functionality that’s directly tied to helping them build awareness and grow their brand.

You’re able to set up multiple projects to organize initiatives within your teams, manage team members, create an unlimited number of tasks, and assign those tasks to anyone on the team. You can also create subtasks that are dependent on the main task which makes it easier to organize work.

In addition to the core project management tools, you’ll also have access to forms to capture contact information, email marketing to keep leads engaged, landing pages that make it possible to deliver targeted messages, and live chat to further engage website visitors.

Ease of Use

HubSpot Projects scores high marks for ease of use. This is due, in large part, to its minimalistic approach to project management. It provides the tools you need, a few simple views, and allows you to get to work on what matters. There is little to no learning curve. If you’ve used a project management tool in the past (and even if you haven’t), you’ll be able to master HubSpot Projects in a few minutes. It’s the rest of the marketing suite that may take some getting used to for you.

Applications and Integrations

HubSpot Projects can only be accessed via your HubSpot account, found on the ‘Marketing’ tab (Marketing > Planning and Strategy > Projects). You’ll need to be enrolled in the basic, professional or enterprise plan to access it. However, helpdesk ticketing and support are available on free and paid plans.

Users can access the platform with any Internet-connected device such as desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone via any web browser. The software is mobile friendly and fine-tuned to adapt/accommodate any screen size, making for a great user experience regardless of device type.

In addition, a mobile application is available for Android and iOS (Apple) devices. You can initiate contact with teams or prospects on the go, access performance reports, marketing, and sales tools. Users can do things like pull CRM data or reports, access and edit customer related info, analyze email engagement, and update deals.

Granted, not all of HubSpot Projects feature is available on their mobile app but you can view your assigned tasks and create new ones. Editing of due and future tasks is only possible on iOS devices.

As for software integrations, the Projects platform of HubSpot can’t be integrated with any common tools like Dropbox, Outlook, Slack, etc. but with good reason. This is because the HubSpot platform itself is a collection of business applications and already has over 240+ integrations that address practically every need.

Whether it’s easily connecting to MailChimp, Magento and/or WordPress to effectively collect customer inquiries or perhaps, integrating with Salesforce to boost revenues, HubSpot got it all. Best of all, coding knowledge or extra development work is rarely required.

Customer support

HubSpot is an established player and has developed many support channels over the years. The level of support you can access is determined by your plan with phone support only available on the Enterprise and Professional plans. For everyone else, live chat and email support are available. When speaking to live support reps, they’re generally knowledgeable about the software and can help you solve most issues.

  • Phone Support
Available for Professional and Enterprise customers.
  • Live Online Chat
Live chat is available for all paying customers.
  • Email
Email support is available for customers on a paid plan.
  • Video Tutorials
A large collection of video tutorials available.
  • FAQ
FAQs are found on site and there is a comprehensive knowledgebase

Final Word

HubSpot is an expansive platform that has been able to combine many tools into one in a way that’s not daunting for the end-user. HubSpot Projects is a simple project management solution that strips away the bells and whistles that you’ll find in other purpose-built software. Instead, it focuses on the main tools a user would need such as tasks, assigning team members, projects, and project templates. Many people will appreciate the simplicity but many won’t.
If you’re only looking for a project management tool then this may not be for you because it’s part of a larger marketing suite. You’ll get a lot of additional tools in addition to accessing the project management software. If that’s something you’re interested in then the deep integration with the rest of the platform and the simplicity may be worth checking out.
